The Butterfly Lovers; My Poem...

So, we had a speaker today and she asked us to write a poem in response to the Chinese tale of The Butterfly Lovers. What made it more interesting, she asked us to do within about 45 seconds!...I was a little worried, but here's what i came up with...

He is She, or is He
I do not understand
Love could be for you, for me
But not with my brother, a man

He is She, or is He
There's something being concealed
Why compare us to the wife &husband or ducks
if who you say you are is not real

He is She; Yes, isn't She?
What else could all this mean
A sister, a twin, supposedly just like "Him"
Oh, what a fool i've been
So....what do you think??

Cupid and Psyche= Beauty and the Beast?

This story sounded like a perfect blend of all of the "beauty & the beast" stories in our text. The story of "Cupid &Psyche" contained many facets stemming from each story, however the story containing the closest likeness, in my opinion was the french version by jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont. Simply titled, "Beauty and the Beast", this tale regaled how Beauty had sisters, who wanted to cause her misfortune, she was self-scarificial, and ultimately learned to love beyond her five senses. Of course there were obvious differences between the two such as the "curiosity killed the cat" character trait in Psyche and the fact that Cupid was not actually a beast, but just mischievous in nature.
Similarly, the two tales spoke about jealousy, vanity and true love all in one. The morals were the same as well. Each tale used the "beauty" and the "beast" to represent the same things. I believed "beauty" to represent safety and security of knowing and "beast" to represent the unknown and wild aspects of one's imagination.
This is just a precursor to what i found interesting when comparing the two stories....
